Dumpster Rental in Dunnellon

A railroad and phosphate town of 1890 on the spring-fed Rainbow River.

The Town of Dunnellon was formed in 1890, “named for a pioneer railroad man, John F. Dunn.” Hard rock phosphate was discovered in the area by Albertus Vogt, and the original mines were near the Blue Run River, now known as the Rainbow River. In 1908 the Atlantic Coast Line railroad built the depot on South Williams Street.

Today the spring-fed Rainbow River, a “gently winding, six-mile waterway” whose water “stays in the low 70s year-round,” draws visitors, and Rainbow Springs State Park and KP Hole Park are just outside the city. The city itself is small, 1,928 people in 2020 and an estimated 2,056 in 2025, but the two Dunnellon ZIPs together held 21,748. About three in five homes in the city are single-family houses, so the work is remodels, roofs and renovation debris. Dunnellon is about 20 miles west-south-west of our yard, by SR 200 and CR 484.

Where We Deliver in Dunnellon

Areas we cover

  • Around South Williams Street and the city center: older homes and buildings, remodels and roofs
  • Near the Rainbow River and Blue Run of Dunnellon Park: homes, remodels and roofs
  • The wider Dunnellon area outside city limits, around Rainbow Springs: homes, remodels and cleanouts

In Dunnellon our containers are for construction, remodeling, roofing and demolition debris: construction, roll-off and commercial dumpster rental, with same-day delivery, in all five sizes. Dunnellon’s code says solid waste in the city is picked up by the City or its solid waste collector, so we leave household cleanout and junk loads there to them. Outside city limits, in unincorporated Marion County, we also do home cleanouts, junk removal and yard-waste containers.

Do I need a permit in Dunnellon?

Dunnellon publishes no permit for a dumpster in the street. Its code makes it unlawful to put up any “obstruction upon the streets, lanes or sidewalks” or to place on them “any waste paper, empty boxes, rubbish, filth or trash of whatever description” (§ 54-5). So in Dunnellon the container goes on your driveway or lot, and any other placement is a question for City Hall (352-465-8500) before delivery, not after. The City publishes no rule or time limit for a container on private property. The code does say who deals with the debris: construction and demolition debris from lot cleaning or from building, rebuilding or altering a building “must be removed by the owner or contractor performing such work” (§ 50-65), which is the job a roll-off does. Outside city limits, around Rainbow Springs, you are in unincorporated Marion County, where we found no published County permit for a container in a county road, so there too it goes on your property. And if a demolition or renovation removes asbestos-containing material above the Asbestos NESHAP thresholds, a Notice of Renovation or Demolition must go to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection at least 10 working days before work starts; Marion County projects go to its Central District office (407-897-4100).

FAQ

Dunnellon dumpster rental questions

  • Is a permit needed for a dumpster in Dunnellon?
Dunnellon publishes no dumpster permit, and its code bars obstructions and trash on streets, lanes and sidewalks (§ 54-5). So the container goes on your driveway or lot; other placements are a question for City Hall (352-465-8500).
  • How far ahead should I book in Dunnellon?
A day ahead. Dunnellon is about 20 miles west-south-west of our yard, by SR 200 and CR 484, so it is usually a next-morning delivery, sometimes same-day if you call early.
  • I live near Rainbow Springs with a Dunnellon address. Which rules apply?
Probably the county’s. The two Dunnellon ZIPs held 21,748 people in 2020 but the city only 1,928, so most Dunnellon addresses are outside city limits, and so are Rainbow Springs State Park and KP Hole Park. Outside the city, in Marion County, there is no published permit for a container in a county road, so either way it goes on your driveway or lot.
  • Who has to haul away my remodel debris?
You or your contractor. Dunnellon’s code says construction and demolition debris from building, rebuilding or altering a building “must be removed by the owner or contractor performing such work.” A 10 to 20-yard on the driveway is the usual answer; see our sizes page.
