Dumpster Rental in McIntosh

A railroad town on Orange Lake, incorporated in 1913, with 68 sites on the National Register.

McIntosh grew up on the railroad. The Florida Southern Railway came through in 1881, the McIntosh Depot was built in 1885, and oranges and vegetables were “shipped by ferry from Orange Lake to Palatka and then north by way of the St. Johns River.” The Town was incorporated by an act of the Legislature in 1913, and the McIntosh Historic District, designated on November 18, 1983, has 68 sites on the National Register of Historic Places. The McIntosh 1890’s Festival celebrates the town’s Victorian heritage.

It is a small place: 463 people in 2020 and an estimated 551 in 2025, on 0.7 square miles. The homes are among the oldest we serve, with a median build year of 1977 and nearly 60 percent built before 1980, and 82 percent are single-family houses (small-sample estimates). So the work is careful renovations, roofs and estate cleanouts on older homes. Town Hall on 10th Street is about 19 miles north-north-west of our yard by US 301/441 and US 441, so book a day ahead.

Do I need a permit in McIntosh?

McIntosh publishes no rule we could find for a dumpster, in the street or on your driveway, and no permit or fee for one. So the container goes on your driveway or lot, and anything else is a question for Town Hall (20400 10th Street) before delivery, not after. Outside town limits you are in unincorporated Marion County, where we found no published County permit for a container in a county road, so there too it goes on your property. And if a demolition or renovation removes asbestos-containing material above the Asbestos NESHAP thresholds, a Notice of Renovation or Demolition must go to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection at least 10 working days before work starts; Marion County projects go to its Central District office (407-897-4100).
