Dumpster Rental in Ocala

The Brick City, rebuilt in brick after the fire of 1883, and our home base: construction and demolition roll-offs inside city limits, cleanouts too beyond them.

Ocala is home: our yard is at 506 SE 3rd Ave, downtown in the 34471 ZIP, a few blocks from the City Manager’s Office on SE Watula Avenue. The City says the center of town “was virtually destroyed by fire on Thanksgiving Day in 1883,” and that after it was rebuilt in brick and other fire-resistant materials, “Ocala became known as the ‘Brick City’, a name still used today.” Ocala has been the county seat since Marion County was formed in 1846, it has four historic districts, and Fort King, “the site that ignited the Second Seminole War,” is now a 40-acre National Historic Landmark about 3 miles east of our yard.

The Census counted 63,591 people in 2020 and estimates 71,753 for 2025. About half the city’s homes are single-family houses and 39 percent are in buildings of two or more units; 43 percent were built before 1980 and 28 percent since 2000. So the work is roofs, kitchen and bath remodels, renovations, additions and new-build cleanup, for homeowners and contractors alike. One rule shapes everything here: inside city limits the City of Ocala collects all solid waste except construction and demolition debris and recyclables, so our containers in the city carry construction and demolition debris. Many “Ocala” addresses are outside city limits, in unincorporated Marion County, and there we take cleanouts and junk too.

Do I need a permit in Ocala?

Ocala draws a clear line, and we work to it. The City’s Sanitation Services page says: “It is a requirement of the Code of the City of Ocala that all solid waste, excluding construction and demolition debris (C&D) and recyclable commodities, must be collected and disposed of exclusively by the City of Ocala.” Its residential sanitation sheet adds: “Construction debris such as concrete, asphalt, rock, brick, blocks, tile, shingles, etc. and large amounts of wood need to be disposed of in a roll off container (from a private hauler) or at a C & D landfill.” So inside city limits we rent roll-offs for remodeling, roofing, construction and demolition debris, to homeowners and contractors alike. Household trash, junk and cleanout loads inside city limits go to the City’s Sanitation service (residential line 352-351-6697), and we keep them out of our containers there. Many “Ocala” addresses are not in the city at all: Silver Springs Shores (34472) and Marion Oaks (34473), for example, are unincorporated Marion County, where this City rule does not apply, and there we take cleanouts and mixed loads too. On the street, the City’s right-of-way utilization permit, from the City Engineer’s Transportation Engineering Division (352-351-6733), does not mention dumpsters or containers, so we ask that office before any street placement; otherwise the container goes on your driveway or lot. The City publishes no rule or time limit for a container on private property. Construction permit applications go to the City’s Customer Service Center (201 SE 3rd St., 2nd floor) or through the eTrakit portal; the Permit Center is at 352-629-8421. And if a demolition or renovation removes asbestos-containing material above the Asbestos NESHAP thresholds, a Notice of Renovation or Demolition must go to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection at least 10 working days before work starts; Marion County projects go to its Central District office (407-897-4100).

FAQ

Ocala dumpster rental questions

  • Is a permit needed for a dumpster in Ocala?
Inside Ocala city limits the City collects all solid waste except construction and demolition debris and recyclables, so our roll-offs there carry construction and demolition debris only. The City publishes no permit written for a dumpster; we keep it on your driveway or lot and ask Transportation Engineering (352-351-6733) before any street placement.
  • Can you deliver a dumpster the same day in Ocala?
Usually, yes. Our yard is downtown on SE 3rd Avenue, so every job in the city is a short run. Call early and we will aim for a same-day drop.
  • I live inside Ocala city limits. Can I rent a dumpster for a cleanout?
Not from us. Inside city limits the City collects all solid waste except construction and demolition debris and recyclables, so household trash, junk and cleanout loads go to its Sanitation service (residential line 352-351-6697). Remodel, roofing and demolition debris is fine in our roll-off. If your Ocala address is outside city limits, as in Silver Springs Shores or Marion Oaks, we take cleanouts too; give us the address and we will check which side of the line it is on.
  • Is the Baseline landfill still open?
Not as a landfill. Marion County says Baseline, at 5601 SE 66th St., reached its maximum capacity in July 2019 and now runs as a transfer station: newly collected waste goes from there to a landfill in Sumter County. With a roll-off you load it once at home and we haul it away.
